We Don’t Need Another Song About Aschaffenburg

Sweet Tour diary – Collos Saal Aschaffenburg

The day started with a trip to the mecca of European music stores that is Thomann. Any UK or European musicians will have heard of this company as they do mail oreder all over the place. What an amazing experience it was.The ‘shop’ is still based at the old family home in Treppendorf where it began its humble beginnings nearly 60 years ago in 1954. The company now is bigger than the town itself and employs some 980 staff in their store, customer services and logistics departments.

Couldn’t really resist taking advantage of the store manager Benschi Beuschlein’s kind generosity of giving us the full guided tour.

Andy managed to pick up a Fender guitar and I bought a couple of excellent litle mics for on the road Skyping and video recording. This Snowflake mic and this lapel mic as well as this beast of a pickup which is going into my Caparison guitar tomorrow. Pete and I had a blast trying out microphones and PA equipment. Especially impressive is the new Line 6 Sound Scape system – just amazing.

They have a room where all of their microphones are connected and you can try every single one out. If you are looking for a good recording microphone then the Brauner range are some of the nicest sounding microphones I have ever heard but come at a hefty cost. I do consider Rode microphones to be the best suited for me vocally but having tested about 40 studio mics the hands down winner for excellent sound on a budget is hereย – you simply won’t find a better sounding mic in this range.

We would like to thank all of the guys at Thomann for a great afternoon ๐Ÿ™‚

The gig in the Collos Saal was amazing. The place was SOLD OUT and packed to the rafters! We had a really enjoyable time and the crowd were very supportive and enthusiastic ๐Ÿ™‚ We will definitely be coming back here also. It’s looking already like we could be thinking about arranging next year’s tour already.

Well, we have a well deserved break until the next show in Berlin on Tuesday night. This last run of 5 shows has really tested our endurance and you have to bear in mind that I am the only one in this band under the age of 54 then it’s not bad going really! We fly to Berlin this evening and will take up residence in Europe’s largest hotel for the next 3 days for some R & R. I wonder if they have a quiet room not near the lift?

Advance sales for nest week are great with a couple of shows already SOLD OUT:) Bye for now….
