Set Me Free – Sweet European Tour Start

/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/hamburg.jpgWhat a day for a daydream…

The first show with the band in 4 months….trepidation….nerves….

The guys had a great tour in Oz and Paul Manzi did a sterling job doing my part (most probably better than me on average 🙂  ). With all recent events I must admit that I was very much looking forward to getting back on the road to rock. I can’t tell you what a great couple of days the start of the tour has been… Being in the company of those you really love at a deep level is very good for you. Anyway…

We played at the Markthalle last year towards the end of the tour and it certainly was a highlight but I just cannot believe the level of audience/band journey that took place last night. It was almost like each and every song brought us closer together and the level of enjoyment just went through the roof. (I know that at this time in my life I am looking for positivity but…why not look that way 🙂 )

I’ve been in Sweet for over 10 years now (off and on) and have played a LOT of shows but I have to say that the integration of audience and band (The Vibe) that I experienced last night will be virtually unbeatable… Seriously!…Same band…Same songs…A lot of familiar faces…A Whole New Level!

What’s the reason for this? Is it that through the power of Facebook and social media that our best dedicated fans in the world are sharing their appreciation for the great music that The Sweet created? It must be! We don’t know of any answer…

Krefeld tomorrow is sold out, Berlin on Monday is sold out. This is unheard of from a band whose hits are nearly older than some of the musicians. We can only say one thing –

Now, share this with your friends to make them jealous that you have been with us from the beginning and we will be there for you until the end. If you want a great experience try and get a VIP package for one of the shows. Otherwise, as long as you are patient, you can always meet with us after the show.

Personally, I want to thank all of you for the overwhelming support you have offered me during the tragedy of my personal life. Part of my coping mechanism is to be able to do what I love  the most and that is to play music – for you.

Danke Hamburg, Wilkommen Krefeld!

Wow Tony, what a review after such a fantastic event. I think it might help that things can be shared on Facebook but I also guess that the people are simply wanting to listen to great music again. Beside that I must say, the Sweet got the magic, that’s how it felt to me being in the crowd. It already has been there last year and got even bigger now. The band looks so happy playing together that that must jump over to the crowd.

At the moment you are my personal hero, you are saying here that you are looking for positivity at this time of your life and at the same moment you are giving this to other people.
