A Final Bow

So the Sweet NYC comes to the end of the first leg. These past 13 shows have been absolutely amazing. When we all decided last year to do a proper raw club tour, which was suggested by our tour manager Stefan Muhl, it was a very difficult decision to make. You see, most of our shows are booked by professional promoters who guarantee your wages, hotels, flights  and pay for the venues, crew advertising etc… This could truly have been a Claims Direct tour – no win no fee. (For European readers, we have these commercials in the UK from bloodsucking lawyers who want to make you money from accidents but they say that you don’t have to pay – they just take most of the profits if they win). So, all in all, this was a big risk for everyone. We didn’t know how many true Sweet fans were out there who would come and support us.

We made the decision to do it anyway – Musketeers – all for one and one for all.

Needless to say that this has been one of the most enjoyable experiences ever for the band. Even as early as last October we knew that tickets were selling well and that was really encouraging. From the first show to the last, the crowds have been amazing and we cannot thank you enough for the loyalty and support that you have shown this band – it’s the power of the music that keeps it all going! It is indeed a privilege to play those famous songs night after night. Many of the shows were sold out and in this day and age that speaks volumes.

So, our sincerest thanks go to…

Stefan Muhl – it was your idea and you put it all together and we are very proud of all of the very hard work that you put in to ensure that the tour was a success. It will be really great when you organise the next one. Thanks for driving us halfway around Europe (every day) and stopping at more red lights than a Hamburg hooker. Thanks for making sure that we got fed, watered and made it to the church on time.

Every single local promoter – you took a risk with us and thanks to your support it was all a great success. See you next year.

Damian Scott – for making us sound better than we are every night 🙂 For your excellent t-shirt designs and all merchandise management we, and the fans (I imagine), are truly grateful.

Adam Booth – for being the most versatile and brilliant of all stage crew. Rigging, fixing guitars, playing guitars, playing drums (as a new Courgette) and everything else that you do tirelessly – we can’t thank you enough.

Johannes Johannes – the most mild mannered excellent monitor engineer we have come across. Thanks for making everything audible for us. Big thanks for driving the backline all over Germany and getting it all working every night. We consider you now as one of the team – welcome aboard JJ!

Chris and Marion Muhl – for your dedication to Sweet! Thank you for looking after our merchandise and organising the aftershow signing sessions. Mostly though – thank you for your time.

Michael Damkvist – for posting up the blog reports and photos on the Sweet Facebook site for others to enjoy.

Tamara Feyerabend – for some very cool photos

Finally, to every single one of you who came along to a show (or many) – we can’t thank you enough for making this tour such a great success and none of it would have been possible without your support. Shall we do it again next year?

I hope that I haven’t missed anybody… Personally, I would like to thank my band mates for their brilliant performances.

P.S.I am currently still the only one left on the tour – delayed at Frankfurt airport but hope to get home soon 🙂 (Actually, that is not true. Stefan and Johannes Johannes are still travelling in the German snow…somewhere…) If you have enjoyed the blogs please click that little blue Facebook floating tab on the upper right of your screen and ‘Like’ Vocal Power’ before you go. Thanks and bye for now…

    Tony,
I was happy to hear your tour of small clubs went well. It is where we all started our craft and learned the absolute value and inspiration of an audience. I don’t personally know anything about your band but your vocal instruction you tube video’s are certainly engaging and I plan to book a session with you in the near future. Take care, David
